CCJs explained
County Court Judgements (CCJ’s) are passed when proceedings are issued against you to try and obtain payment towards outstanding debts.
A CCJ can remain on your credit file for 6 years and is an order of a judge to repay your creditor the amount that was claimed in court. If proceedings are issued against you through a County Court and you don’t respond a CCJ will be served against you in your absence.
The value of your CCJ can be entered into a Debt Management Plan to ensure the amount you repay each month is one you can afford.
By entering into an IVA (Individual Voluntary Arrangement) CCJ’s can be overridden as the agreement is a formal arrangement with your lender and part of a government backed scheme towards insolvency.
